Hammers in control in Group A

West Ham have a perfect record in the Europa League with two wins from two games but they could face a test against Olympiakos in Greece on Thursday.

The hosts lost to Freiburg at home earlier in this competition but were perhaps unlucky not to get anything from that game, while West Ham head to Piraeus after a 4-1 defeat at Aston Villa at the weekend.

The Hammers have seen both teams score in 10 of their 12 games this season across all competitions. They have scored themselves in all of those games – and their only clean sheets have come against Sheffield United, who sit bottom of the Premier League, and League One outfit Lincoln.

Olympiakos have scored eight goals in total across their last two home games and they haven’t failed to score at their Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium base since February, a run stretching 14 games.

Bowen can fire Hammers to victory

West Ham managed to overcome Freiburg away in their last group game and the Europa Conference League champions have been a real force in Europe over the last few seasons, having reached the last four of this competition in the 2021/22 season.

Olympiakos have been near perfect at home but their loss to Freiburg suggests West Ham could come away with maximum points and a hard-fought 2-1 win for the visitors is the correct score bet.

Jarrod Bowen grabbed West Ham’s consolation at Villa Park and he looks a good contender for a goal in Greece. The 26-year-old hit six goals in the ECL last season and can get off the mark in the Europa League after registering an assist at Freiburg.
