West Bromwich Albion to Win

Reason for tip

West Brom wobbled before the international break but they have nonetheless won five of their nine games in the Championship this season and they are worth backing to beat Oxford at the Kassam Stadium.

West Bromwich Albion 1-0

Reason for tip

West Brom’s recent contests have been lacking in goals with their last two fixtures generating just one and their clash with Oxford could also be low-scoring, so go for a Baggies win by a 1-0 margin in the correct score betting.

Oxford United vs West Bromwich Albion Predictions

  • West Brom have won five of their nine games in the Championship this term
  • Oxford are winless in their last four contests
  • Both teams have scored in just one of West Brom’s last six games

Baggies can bounce back after break

The international break came at an appropriate time for West Brom, who were starting to slip with two defeats and a draw in their last three games before the hiatus.

Before that, though, the Baggies were the team to beat in this season’s Championship, posting 16 points from their opening six matches to take the initiative at the top.

They beat the likes of QPR, Stoke, Swansea and Portsmouth earlier in the campaign and should still be considered prime promotion candidates despite their recent dip in form.

Their failure to score in recent meetings with Middlesbrough and Millwall will be cause for concern but the break will have given Carlos Corberan time to reflect and get his team back on course.

Oxford unlikely to cause visitors many problems

Opponents Oxford have adjusted pretty well to life in the second tier and are nestled in the mid-table positions following the international break.

But wins have been hard to come by with United failing to record maximum points in any of their last four contests.

They drew with Burnley, Luton and Portsmouth before the break and are lacking bite in attack, while the absences of Cameron Brannagan, Elliott Moore and Przemyslaw Placheta will not help matters.

A West Brom win is the way to go but their last four games have produced only seven goals and this could be a low-scoring one, with the visitors fancied to prevail 1-0.
