Ferreira hoping to retain European place
Pacos Ferreira have enjoyed a good season in Portugal this year with the side currently sitting in fifth place, a position that would be enough to see them qualify for the Europa Conference League next season. The team have won performed above expectations so far and haven’t given up hope of entering the Europa League with a top three finish.
Ferreira have struggled in recent weeks though, losing two of their last four matches, bringing an end to a run of form which saw them win six games in a row. This poor run isn’t the end of the world though and this fixture looks to be one of the easiest for the the side to bounce back against.
Nacional hoping to avoid relegation battle
Things are very tight at the foot of the table in Primeira Liga with just six points separating ninth placed, Tondela and bottom of the table, Boavista. Nacional find themselves in the midst of that pack in 12th position, just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Recent form has seen Nacional dragged a little deeper into the battle at the bottom with the side losing their last three games. They’ll be keen to change their fortunes starting this weekend but up against a Nacional side that have dropped just seven points at home all season.
Goals the order of the day?
Both of these sides have a claim to win this game but things look as though they could be quite tight with so much on the line for both clubs. Historically, this is quite a high scoring game with the last 10 fixtures between these two averaging 3.1 goals per game and goals could again be on the agenda here.
Ferreira games have averaged 2.28 goals per game this season that Nacional sharing exactly the same record and we’re confident that these two will be able to combine in an entertaining clash once again. As such, we’re backing the 2.5 goal line to be beaten in this encounter.
Pacos Ferreira should have the edge overall though with 8 more goal scored over the season and we’re forecasting a 2-1 win for the home side.
