Perth Glory vs Sydney FC Predictions

Perth Glory ended last season pretty disastrously. Despite being just three points off the leaders in the end, breaches to salary cap regulations saw them demoted to 7th position and miss out on the playoff finals.

It doesn’t look like they have recovered from that setback, because they have started this season dreadfully.

They have lost four of their five Hyundai A-League games so far, with their only positive result being a 3-1 win over Adelaide United.

They also lost to Melbourne Victory in the FFA Cup Final, their second cup final loss in as many years.

This sees them down in 9th position in the table, although they do have a game in hand over the majority of the A-League.

It will be difficult for them to break out of their three match losing streak on Friday as well, as they face a Sydney FC team desperate to overcome their own disappointment from last season.

The visitors finished two points adrift of Hyundai A-League Premiers Melbourne Victory last season, and then were dealt another blow as they lost to them in the playoff final to end a very promising season empty handed.

Sydney FC were handed their first defeat of the new season last weekend as well, with their old foes Melbourne Victory beating them 4-2 in Sydney.

Their other games have seen them win three times and draw twice, giving them a tally of 11 points from their opening six games. This leaves them two points adrift of A-League leaders Brisbane Roar.

Both of their away games have ended in victory so far this season, which is a carry over from last season when they had by far the best away record in the league.

Both of Sydney FC’s visits to Perth Glory last season ended in a win for the visitors, and I’m expecting the same on Saturday. Odds of 23/20 for a Sydney FC win look really good value as well, so I’m backing that and a 2-0 correct scoreline at 10/1.
