Pescara vs Lazio Predictions

Lazio slipped down to fifth place after losing at home to Chievo last weekend. That was a big setback in their hopes of making the Champions League next season, but they bounced back well in midweek. The Biancocelesti beat Inter Milan, the side directly above them, in order to book a spot in the Coppa Italia semi-finals. Can they build on that victory to claim all three points when they travel to Pescara on Sunday?

The Champions League hopefuls are looking to boost their chances of making the top three when they face the bottom side in Serie A this weekend. The hosts have lost 13 of their last 15 games. They’re yet to record a home victory this term, averaging just 0.36 points per game at their own ground. Lazio don’t have the great away record, winning four, drawing three and losing three, but they should have no problem getting a result in this clash.

Pescara have looked below par in the league all season, averaging 0.64 goals per game at home while they’ve conceded two per match in return. Having failed to score in 45% of their home games, they’re obviously going to struggle for points. Especially when you consider how bad their defence is, as they’ve conceded in 17 straight games in the league. They’ve recorded just one clean sheet at home so far, and there’s little about their current form which suggest they can even challenge for survival. They are already 12 points off safety, and that gap looks set to widen.

Meanwhile, Lazio are coming here expecting a big win, given Pescara’s blunt attack and the fact that the hosts have conceded two or more in six of their last seven. The visitors have scored in 70% of their away games, and they’re facing a team who have failed to score in almost half of their defeats at home this term. The Biancocelesti should shut them down at the back once again. The may have conceded 1.14 goals per game so far, but they should have enough about them to keep out the hosts.

Pescara have conceded two or more goals in 64% of their home games. Recent history between them suggests that will continue, with little fightback from the hosts. These two have met on three occasions in recent times, all of which have been won by Lazio, winning to nil with a two goal margin or higher in all three. We’re backing them to record another comfortable win this time around, with the visitors priced at evens to win with a -1 Asian Handicap.
