Plymouth Argyle vs Sheffield Wednesday Predictions

Both teams can strike at Home Park

Plymouth have struggled at the back this season, and that could give Sheffield Wednesday a chance to get on the scoresheet when they visit Home Park on Saturday. Back both teams to find the net.

Sheffield Wednesday are ten places above Plymouth in the table, but both teams have lost more games than they’ve won this season. Wednesday, who have won 12 and lost 14, sit 13th, while Plymouth are 23rd with six wins and 17 defeats.

Plymouth are without a win in four Championship games and Sheffield Wednesday have won just one of their last six. The visitors are struggling, having lost their last three matches, and finding it hard to put opponents away.

Plymouth came back from a goal down to share a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Cardiff in their last Championship outing at Home Park when Argyle scored with their only shot on target.

Plymouth have been prolific going forward at home, scoring 30 goals in their 17 Championship games this season – an average of 1.76 goals per game. They have also found the net in five of their last six league matches. In contrast, Sheffield Wednesday have scored 47 goals in 35 games this season, averaging just over a goal a game.

Neither side has been solid at the back, with Plymouth having shipped 70 goals this season and Wednesday conceding at least twice in four of their last five league games.

It could be hard to separate these two sides, with the 1-1 draw looking like a decent correct-score bet. Two of Plymouth’s last three in the Championship have finished 1-1 and both teams to score has been a winning bet in four of Sheffield Wednesday’s last six.
