Pilgrims set for more punishment

Having endured relegation from the Championship last season, Plymouth have struggled to acclimatise to their new surroundings in League One and have taken only three points from their first six assignments.

The Pilgrims have had a tough set of early fixtures but they have lost five of their six matches and were completely shrugged aside by Cardiff last time out, suffering a 4-0 defeat and managing only three shots on target.

Tom Cleverley’s side have scored only four times while leaking 13 goals and they have already lost home league games to Barnsley and Leyton Orient this season, which could spell trouble against a Stockport outfit with promotion ambitions.

The Hatters won their opening two league games against Bolton and Wycombe and, while they have dropped off since, they have lost only one of their six matches.

Stockport finished third last season before suffering playoff heartbreak but they have an excellent manager in Dave Challinor and they have built a strong squad capable of mixing it at the top end of the table.

Stockport have lost only two of their last 16 away games in League One and they can heap the early-season woe on Plymouth, who have failed to score in three of their last four defeats.
