Hosts need to tighten up

Darrell Clarke’s side have it all to do as they went down 2-1 in the first leg. They were 2-0 down up until the 83rd minute when forward James Wilson was able to half the deficit. It could prove to be a vital goal as the hosts now welcome the ‘Robins’ to Vale Park looking to claim victory and their place at Wembley. The first leg marked the fourth time in a row that Port Vale have failed to keep a clean sheet against Swindon Town but achieving that feat the fifth time around may be pivotal to their promotion hopes.

The visitors are in the driving seat as we approach the second leg and they arrive with some momentum after winning all of their previous five matches. The only cause for concern is that they have conceded in six of their last eight games and with Port Vale likely to throw the gauntlet at them, tightening up at the back will be paramount.

Goals in the offing

This has all the makings of a fascinating matchup and given both sides have occasionally looked vulnerable at the back, we’ll be leaning towards at least three goals being scored here. In our opinion, Swindon Town are likely to pick up a result but goals do seem the better angle.
