      Preston Draw No Bet

      Reason for tip

Preston have made an impressive start to the new campaign and they are a tentative selection to edge past Portsmouth, but it may pay to keep the draw on side. Pompey have lost both home matches this term 2-1, while Preston have beaten Ipswich and Leicester in the opening weeks. Three of the last five meetings have finished all square so the draw can’t be ruled out in what could be a tight contest.

      Preston 2-1

      Reason for tip

Portsmouth have lost both home matches in all competitions this term 2-1, and that looks a likely scoreline should Preston overcome their hosts. That was the outcome when these two last met in March, and North End look in the better nick at this early stage of the season.

      Portsmouth vs Preston Predictions

      • Portsmouth have lost both home matches this season 2-1
      • Preston won 2-1 when these two last met in March
      • Three of the last five meetings have finished in draws

Preston can edge a tight encounter

There hasn’t been much to separate Portsmouth and Preston in the early stages of the campaign, but North End look the sharper and we predict an away win for the Lilywhites.

Paul Heckingbottom’s side have seen off Ipswich and Leicester and they will fancy their chances against Portsmouth, who have lost both home matches in all competitions this term.

Both defeats came by a 2-1 scoreline and that looks a solid option for correct-score punters.

That was the outcome when these two last met in March, but it may be safest to back with Preston with the draw no bet.

Pompey are never an easy side to beat at Fratton Park and three of the past five meetings between these two have finished all square.

Portsmouth have won just two of their last seven matches on home soil, but they will be roared on by an enthusiastic home support who have seen little of their side in the new campaign.

It was 3-1 to Pompey in the corresponding fixture last season, but that was their first win over Preston in six attempts, so the Lancashire side are predicted to quickly turn the tables in a close encounter on Saturday.
