End-to-end affair in Lancashire

A 3-2 defeat to relegation-threatened Reading last time out ended a six-game run for Preston, who look destined for a mid-table finish, barring a ludicrous run of form from now until the end of the campaign.

That was only manager Ryan Lowe’s second league defeat since taking over at the Lancashire club, though the home games he has overseen so far have largely been entertaining affairs, with five of the six such games seeing goals scored at both ends.

Visiting Nottingham Forest benefitted from results elsewhere over the weekend, leaving their play-off push looking viable given their games in hand over opposing sides. Manager Steve Cooper should be confident here, with his side on the day failing to score just once against Preston (W3, D1, L1).

Go for goals

I predict that both teams will score in this clash as Prest0n have nothing to lose and are averaging 1.5 scored goals per home league game under their current boss.

Meanwhile, Forest need the three points to keep their play-off fate in their own hands and as such, they will need to go hammer and tong for goals.
