PSV Reserves vs Maastricht Predictions

Jong PSV and MVV close out match day 21 in Eerste Divisie this Monday evening, and it’s the Eindhoven side who are favourites to land the spoils at De Herdgang. Dennis Haar’s team have been in fantastic form of late, and they can climb up to 5th in the table with another success in this clash.

Jong started the campaign sluggishly after finishing 5th last term, but Dennis Haar’s men have really got their act together over the past few weeks.

Following a slender 0-1 home defeat to leaders Den Bosch at the start of November, Jong have since lost just one of their last eight, winning five, and they’ve smashed in an incredible 25 goals in that spell – five of which coming against promotion chasing Go Ahead Eagles in Eindhoven at the start of December.

Jong have generally been reliable at home this season as their record of six wins, two draws and two defeats from ten matches implies, and they’ve never been beaten by this week’s opponents MVV at De Herdgang.

Indeed, Jong are unbeaten in their last eight clashes with the Maastricht outfit, and they’ll be confident of bettering the 2-2 draw played out between the teams at De Geusselt in October, now that they seem to have hit the ground running.

A 2-2 away draw against Jong Ajax after the Christmas break was a strong effort considering they twice went behind, and they head into Monday’s contest in far better shape than MVV who’ve lost their last two games.

Ron Elsen’s side were beaten 1-2 at home by Cambuur prior to the festive period, and they were turned over fairly easily by Twente last week in a 0-2 defeat. That took their dismal home record to two wins, two draws and six losses from ten, and knocked them down to 14th in the Eerste Divisie standings.

They have it all to do if they’re to qualify for the Play-offs with six points now separating them from 9th placed Cambuur, but MVV do have a fairly decent record on the road this term with five wins, three draws and just two defeats from their travels, which will give them some encouragement ahead of their trip to Eindhoven on match day 21.

Nonetheless, the hosts are worthy favourites here at odds-on and it’s difficult to oppose them with these teams moving in completely different directions at the moment.

So it’s a home win for us this Monday night, but we’re throwing both teams to score into the wager too.

Despite Jong’s excellence in attack, they’ve conceded a huge 36 goals this term and have failed to keep a clean sheet in all but two of their 20 games. Combined with the fact that MVV have scored in all but one of their 10 away outings, we think this is a really solid punt as decent odds, and 3-1 is our predicted scoreline.
