Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

New PSV manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has seen both teams score in each of his six games in charge, including when these two sides drew 2-2 in Scotland last week. Rangers meanwhile are on a run of seven of their last 12 away Champions League matches seeing both teams net

PSV 2-1

Reason for tip

Rangers struggle on the road in Europe, failing to win any of their last 12 Champions League away games, of which seven have ended in defeat, whereas PSV, unbeaten this season, are on a roll, picking up three wins and three draws from their six outings

PSV vs Rangers Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in each of PSV’s six matches this season
  • Rangers have seen both teams net in two of their three away fixtures
  • PSV have only kept two clean sheets in their last eight home Champions League outings

Can PSV reach the group stages again?

Armando Obispo’s last gasp goal in Scotland means this tie is locked at 2-2 after the first leg, and that was the sixth consecutive PSV match in which both teams have scored.

New manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has certainly put the emphasis on attack, as his side have scored 20 goals in his half a dozen games in charge so far, and he remains unbeaten, picking up three wins and three draws.

The Dutch outfit are traditionally fairly strong on home soil in the Champions League, losing just four of their 18 fixtures at the Philips Stadion since 2008, with both teams netting on ten occasions.

Will Rangers return to the big time?

Rangers have not qualified for the Champions League group stages since 2010/11, but they head to the Netherlands full of confidence after losing just one of their seven games this season.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has seen both teams score in three of those matches, including the last two, which have both ended as 2-2 stalemates.

Traditionally the Glasgow club have struggled on the road in the UCL though, failing to win any of their last 12 away games, of which seven have seen both teams net and seven have ended in defeat.

I predict that both teams will score in this game, with 2-1 to PSV my correct score prediction.
