Puebla vs Racing Predictions
Puebla are making their debut in the Copa Libertadores and are surprise qualifiers having only finished 16th in the aggregate table of the Mexican top flight last season but were winners of the Copa Mx 2015 Clasura to make it through.
They’ve not made a great start to 2016 winning just 1 of their opening 4 matches but they do have an advantage on their opponents in terms of match sharpness in that they’ve already played that number of league games since the turn of the year.
Racing have been involved in a summer tournament in Argentina and do come into this game after away wins against Boca Juniors and Independiente so confidence should be pretty high particularly given they scored 7 goals in those matches. They made the Quarter Finals of this competition last season and will be favourites to progress although Mexican sides shouldn’t be underestimated as UANL proved when they made the final last year.
This game really looks like it could have plenty of goals in it. Racing have scored twice or more in all of their last 4 away games and both teams have scored in all of their last 4 matches. Both teams have also netted in 5 of Puebla’s last 6 home matches so backing both teams to score at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc on Wednesday looks a good shout at 11/10.
Racing really should win this tie overall but faced with a long journey to Mexico and a lack of competitive match sharpness they won’t have the 1st Leg all their own way. They aren’t great defensively so consider backing a 2-2 draw at long odds of 18/1.
