QPR vs Norwich Predictions
- QPR lost 4-0 to Watford in their first game of the season
- Norwich are second in the Championship in terms of xG after the opening two games
- Both sides are expected to rotate, but Norwich have significantly more depth in their squad
QPR still in trouble
While QPR won 2-1 at Cardiff on Saturday, a victory over another side expected to struggle this term isn’t evidence that all is well at Loftus Road. The 4-0 opening day loss to a Watford side who aren’t expected to be anything special this term is still a worry for Gareth Ainsworth and co.
QPR ended the 2022/23 campaign in terrible shape, picking up the fewest points after the World Cup break. They barely survived thanks to some early season results but Ainsworth has a huge job on his hands to just keep this side up. With Wednesday expected to bring rotation, there’s real concern for what is a very thin QPR squad.
Norwich to thrill again
The Canaries are second in the Championship for Expected Goals this term, which is to be expected off the back of their 4-4 draw at Southampton at the weekend. David Wagner has made the visitors great going forward, but the defence needs some work.
We should see more of that on Wednesday, even with both sides set to rotate. The Canaries have plenty of attacking options who haven’t had a look-in so far, while the hosts’ poor squad makes them vulnerable against this Norwich attack.
The visitors should overpower a QPR side who at their strongest are amongst the bottom five or six teams in the league at best. Their inexperienced second string could suffer and given how we saw last week’s Carabao Cup games open up after the first goal there’s huge value to be found in Norwich to score three or more.
