We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
QPR 2-1 @ 10/1

Reason For QPR vs Sheffield Wednesday Predictions

  • There have been 74 goals scored in QPR’s 21 home league games this season, an average of 3.52 per game
  • Sheffield Wednesday have lost their last three league matches, conceding eight goals in the process
  • There have been three or more goals in each of Wednesday’s last four away league games

QPR may edge lively contest

QPR are a difficult side to predict and they are in need of a lift having lost four of their five games since the Championship’s resumption.

Lucky for them, however, Wednesday find themselves in a similar position and two sides short on confidence could serve up a thriller at Loftus Road.

Rangers showed little in defeats to Barnsley and QPR but they were much better in the 2-1 home defeat against London rivals Fulham and followed that up with a hard-fought 1-0 win at Middlesbrough.

The Hoops found a fast-improving Wigan outfit too hot to handle in midweek but a visit from wobbling Wednesday could spark a revival, particularly at home where they tend to produce their best stuff.

However, backing goals between two sides with nothing but pride to play for is a safer approach. There have been 74 goals scored in QPR’s 21 home league games, an average of 3.52 per game and there is no reason to think this will buck the trend.

Wednesday wavering as the season finishes

Sheffield Wednesday have lost their last three league matches, conceding eight goals in the process, and have a point to prove on their trip to Loftus Road.

Defeats against West Brom, Swansea and Preston have left the Owls in 16th in the Championship – a point and two places worse off than QPR – and they are labouring as the season comes to a close.

Wednesday have won only two of their last nine away games and have conceded 11 goals in their last four, suggesting there is room for improvement defensively.

However, Garry Monk’s men have failed to score in only two of their last nine matches and those blanks came in reverses against West Brom (3-0) and Brentford (5-0) – two teams in promotion contention.

Expect the goals to flow in the capital

There have been three or more goals in each of Wednesday’s last four away league games and the sequence can continue at QPR.

The pair have met two times this season – once in the league and once in the FA Cup – and both meetings finished 2-1, with each triumphing reigning supreme once.

The last five meetings have featured three or more goals, with QPR coming out on top on four occasions, and we are predicting this to follow suit.

Our correct score prediction is a 2-1 home win. Sheffield Wednesday lost by that scoreline on their last away trip at Swansea.
