Real Betis vs Real Sociedad Predictions

Betis are a bit of an unknown quantity at the moment. They won the Segunda Division fairly comfortably last season but were completely outclassed the last time they were at this level. They have had two tough games so far and this will be perhaps the best test of where they are at as they host Real Sociedad, who look nothing more than a solid mid-table side, which is exactly where they finished last season.

By the same token, if the Basques can win here, they’d regard that as a sign of progress from last year when they were pretty shocking away from the Anoeta but little we’ve seen so far suggests they are going to be good enough to do that.

In reality it is likely to be a very tight game between two sides that are feeling their way into the new campaign. Just 1 goal has been scored by a Real Betis or Real Sociedad player so far in La Liga and somewhat predictably it was the ever dangerous Betis striker Ruben Castro who got it.

The result could go either way in this one but it seems unlikely that both sides are suddenly going to become a threat going forward on the same night. Betis signed Rafael Van der Vaart in the summer and the Dutchman could make a big difference when he returns to fitness but he won’t be available here and it is hard to see where they are going to find much service for Castro until he is back.

Real Sociedad have been involved in two 0-0 draws against two of the relegation favourites in the form of Deportivo and Sporting Gijon. It hasn’t been the ideal start to the season and this seems like a similar game to those two with Betis expected to struggle also. Real Sociedad have more quality than their opponents but just seem a bit predictable and easy to defend against.

Therefore perhaps the best bet here is to back ‘No’ in the both teams to score market at 5/6 and then if by some chance one of these sides plays better in the final third than they have been doing, there is every likelihood that the other won’t.

In terms of a correct score, it’s possible either side could nick it 1-0, but surely the most likely outcome is a goalless draw which you can back at 8/1, which is very good value given that both Real Sociedad games have ended that way so far this season and they were involved in a fair few last term also.

It wouldn’t be a disaster for either side so it is unlucky either manager will take undue risks in an attempt to win the game, although they are both going to have to offer more in a creative sense if they are to achieve their respective aims this season.
