Friday’s 2-1 defeat in Athens was a real blow for the Republic of Ireland. It left Stephen Kenny’s side level on points with Gibraltar at the bottom of Group B, making an already difficult group and even harder prospect.

When these two met in 2019 the Irish won 1-0 away and 2-0 at home, so I can see this being a closer clash than many anticipate. The Irish have won by four goals only once since the start of the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and that came in a friendly against Qatar.
