Rotherham vs Brighton Betting Tips

Brighton went unbeaten in their first 21 games this season in the league to the surprise of the entire division and the only question was going to be how they would react when they suffered defeat for the first time. The answer has been not well at all.

Since their unbeaten run came to an end with a 3-0 defeat to new leaders Middlesbrough, Brighton have gone a further 4 matches without scoring a goal and have suffered league defeats at the hands of Ipswich and Wolves while they were knocked out of the FA Cup at fellow Championship side Hull City on Saturday.

Brighton are now 8 points behind leaders Middlesbrough, who have a game in hand and securing a play-off place is looking a much more realistic aim although they will need to turn around their form quickly to avoid being caught by the chasing pack.

Rotherham’s priority this season was always going to be survival and they would probably have settled for being just outside the relegation zone on goal difference at this stage in the season, particularly after their poor start.

Although they’ve lost their last 3 games in all competitions, those matches were all away from home and they have picked up some excellent wins at the New York Stadium recently. They’ve won 3 of their last 4 at home in the league and they were all comfortable wins by 2-0, 3-0 and 4-0 margins. The former was against 3rd place Hull City so they have shown they can topple the top sides and at 6/5 they look worth backing to inflict another defeat on out-of-form Brighton in the ‘draw no bet’ market.

Despite being at opposite ends of the table, Brighton have only scored 1 more goal than Rotherham this season so the Millers are a genuine threat going forward and with Brighton players misfiring consider backing this to end in a 2-0 home win at long odds of 14/1.
