      Rotherham vs Bristol City Predictions

It may only be November but this already feels distinctly like a relegation six-pointer. Rotherham are 23rd but can move to within a point of 19th place Bristol City with a win here. By contrast the visitors will know a win could move them 4 points clear of the relegation zone and as high as 16th in the table.

Both sides come into the game on a bit of a high. Bristol City are unbeaten in 3 matches since a 4-1 mauling at home by Fulham. Their tendency to sometimes capitulate defensively is a concern but they’ve been more solid over the past few weeks, conceding just 1 goal since that match when they shipped 4 in the opening 45 minutes.

They have only scored twice themselves though in those games but a 1-1 draw at home to leaders Hull was certainly a positive result as was their 1-0 victory over Wolves.

Neil Redfearn’s Rotherham reign already appeared to be heading for crisis, almost before it had even started but a surprise 1-0 win at his old club Leeds has helped to lift the gloom and raise optimism around the South Yorkshire club.

In fairness to Rotherham they have had some really tough fixtures of late. Prior to their win at Leeds, all of their previous 10 games had been against sides currently in the top half of the table so it is no surprise to see they didn’t pick up many points.

The Millers were always likely to struggle this term but against the sides in and around them there is no reason why they can’t be competitive. Bristol City are the bookies favourites for this game but have only won 3 times all season so they have done little to warrant such billing especially away from home. Rotherham will go into the game with a bit of a bounce and at 6/5 they look great value in the ‘draw no bet’ market here.

It’s likely to be a close game and it would be a big shock to see either side run away with it. These are 2 of the worst 3 defences in the league so we should see a few goals and backing Rotherham to win 2-1 at long odds of 10/1 looks a nice bet here.
