Tip Reasoning

  • Rotherham have won just 46% of their home games this season.
  • Ipswich have scored in 80% of their away games this season.
  • Ipswich have conceded 0.93 goals per game away from home this season.

Ipswich Town have got their mojo back.

Ipswich stormed to the top of the league in the early stages of the season however they hit a rocky patch which saw them go winless in eight League One outings. The last of that winless run, a 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers signified the return of some form. The Tractor Men controlled the game with 59% possession and got back to their creative best creating 10 chances of which they put five on target.

Since then Paul Lambert’s men have won three of their last four League One games, with wins over Accrington Stanley, Tranmere Rovers and last time out against Lincoln City.

Rotherham, to recover from their weekend set back?

Rotherham have been in magnificent form of late, since boxing day the Millers had won five League One games on the bounce which included an excellent 4-0 win at home to Peterborough United, 3-1 win at Oxford United and 3-0 home defeat of Bristol Rovers. That sparkling form took a dent last time out however as the Posh avenged their 4-0 defeat just a few weeks prior with an impressive 2-1 home defeat of Paul Warne’s side.

Ipswich can keep the Rotherham attack quiet.

Ipswich have been impressive on the road this season and have been the best away team in the league amassing 28 points from their 15 games. They have lost just three times away from home this season and the main reason is their rock-solid defence. Paul Lambert’s side have conceded just 14 times in their 15 away outings a statistic that includes seven clean sheets.

As good as Rotherham have been this season, the bulk of their points, like Ipswich, have come away from home. They have picked up 26 points away from home ranking them as the second-best side on the road in the league this season. At home however the picture is different, the Millers have picked up just 21 points at home, winning just six times in 15 outings.

We think Ipswich can continue their good run of form whilst Rotherham’s confidence will be dented from their 2-1 defeat at Peterborough last time out. We don’t think Ipswich will quite have enough to win the game and see a 1-1 draw the likely outcome.
