Draw 1-1
Tip Reasoning
- Rotherham have won one of their last seven league matches
- Ipswich have drawn four of their last five away matches
- Under 2.5 goals have been scored in each of the last six meetings between these two teams
Ipswich tough to beat under McKenna
Ipswich have lost just three of the 19 games played under Kieran McKenna’s stewardship. The former Manchester United man has made his team particularly tough to beat and the soft touch which was evident about Ipswich early in the campaign is no more. Ipswich’s failure to turn draws into wins under McKenna is likely to cost them a play-off spot. Ipswich have drawn six of the 19 games McKenna has taken charge off, including four of their last five away matches – The Tractors boys are eight points off the top six with four games remaining.
Rotherham running on empty
Rotherham have really run out of puff lately and there is every chance they will miss out on an automatic promotion place, which seemed unfathomable just a few weeks ago. Rotherham have won just one of their last seven league matches, it’s a terrible run that was masked with EFL Trophy success at Wembley and The Millers are now three points behind second placed MK Dons. Paul Warne must find a way of rallying his players for the remaining five fixtures or they risk ending up in the lottery of the play-offs.
A fixture with few goals
This is a fixture that has seen few goals in recent meetings. Under 2.5 goals have been scored in each of the last six meetings between Rotherham and Ipswich and with what is likely to be a cagey game on Saturday I wouldn’t be too hopeful of goals in this one – Ipswich’s last nine away matches have all gone under 2.5 goals.
The main selection Saturday’s game will be for it to finish all-square. Rotherham have a lot to lose on Saturday and they will know that defeat could be terminal in their quest for automatic promotion. I don’t expect Ipswich to change their approach and should be difficult to beat once again, Ipswich have drawn four of their last five away matches. The last six meetings between these have all gone under 2.5 goals – in the correct score market, I will chance this finishing 1-1.
