We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Rotherham 2-1 @ 15/2

Reason For Rotherham vs MK Dons Predictions

  • MK Dons are the fifth worst team in the league when it comes to shots on target conceded per 90 on the road.
  • Rotherham have scored in four out of five home games against bottom-eight opposition.
  • MK Dons have scored in four out of five away games against top-eight teams.
  • Both teams have scored in 62% of MK Dons’ travelling matches in League 1 this season.

Millers in pole position

Rotherham’s run of wins came to an end when they were last in action at this venue, but as they drew with Wimbledon, their unbeaten run did not. The Millers have since added a win and a draw to their record, meaning that they’re now without defeat in six matches, while they’ve lost just one of their last 14 in League 1, nine of which they’ve won. It’s not difficult to see why they’ve surged to the top of the table.

All things considered, in terms of all-round contribution, Paul Warne’s men have been one of the best in the division this term, of that there’s no doubt. However, we shouldn’t necessarily assume that they’ll walk this match, despite the disparity in league positions between themselves and their opponents. For all their strengths, Rotherham have won just two out of six home matches against teams that currently reside in the bottom eight. Not only did they draw against Wimbledon, who’re five points below MK Dons, when last at New York Stadium, but they conceded twice in the process.

Dons getting tougher

MK Dons remain in an unflattering league position, but it must be said that they’re a side on the up. Ever since Russell Martin took charge, his first managerial position in the profession game, the Dons have become much harder to beat. They were beaten by high-flyers Portsmouth last time out, though that was their first defeat in six matches, while they’ve only lost three of their last 12.

MK Dons haven’t done particularly well away against those that currently reside in the top eight, winning zero out of five, but their scoring record against such teams should give them hope on Saturday. Martin’s men have notched in four of their five away games against top-eight opposition, as well as in six out of eight away against top-half teams. Having notched at Fratton Park, which is arguably the toughest place to go at this level, last time out on the road, Saturday’s visitors should fancy themselves to make their presence felt against a Rotherham side that hasn’t exactly flourished in games such as this.

Goals for both on the cards

MK Dons’ rather unflattering record of four losses and a draw in five matches away against top-eight teams doesn’t exactly point towards them getting a result against the league leaders, but their efforts suggest that they can make their presence felt offensively, even if they are to once again come up short defensively in this type of match. Punters can profit by siding with ‘Both Teams to Score’. Rotherham have scored in four out of five against bottom-eight teams at home, while MK Dons have scored in four out of five against top-eight opposition on the road.
