FK Ruh Brest secured promotion to the Belarusian Premier League last season via victory in the relegation playoff and have looked capable of establishing themselves as a top-flight outfit.

The same cannot be said for Smolevichi, who also gained promotion to the top flight last season but have endured a miserable start to life in the top division with five defeats and three draws in their opening eight fixtures.

They have lost their last three matches at home to Dinamo Minsk, Energetik-BGU and BATE Borisov, conceding ten goals.
