Inter Milan To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Inter’s last three away wins in Serie A have been accompanied by a clean sheet and as part of a comfortable road victory, they should shut out Salernitana, who have failed to score in three of their last four games,

Inter Milan 2-0

Reason for tip

Inter Milan have won three of the last four meetings with Salernitana and each victory has included a clean sheet. No side has kept more clean sheets through six games in Serie A than Inter and a routine 2-0 success is the best correct score option.

Salernitana vs Inter Milan Predictions

  • Inter have the best defensive record in Serie A and won three of the last four meetings with Salernitana
  • The hosts are winless in their last seven Serie A matches
  • Four of Inter Milan’s last five away games in the league have featured less than three goals

Positive Inter response expected

After being stunned by Sassuolo at home on Wednesday, Inter Milan head south to Salernitana hoping to get back to winning ways and hang on to top spot.

Inter’s 100 per cent start to the league campaign was ended in dramatic fashion in midweek after they failed to build on a 1-0 lead against Sassuolo, who left San Siro with all three points thanks to Dominic Berardi’s second-half winner.

The 2-1 defeat means AC Milan can replace Inter at the top of the table with a win against Lazio earlier in the day on Saturday, although Simone Inzaghi’s side are odds-on favourites to return to winning ways and stay on top at Salernitana.

Inter have a 100 per cent record on the road this season, winning at Empoli and Cagliari, and are yet to concede an away goal.

Salernitana sinking fast

That’s bad news for a Salernitana side that’s struggled to score goals of late, drawing blanks in three of their last four games as their winless start to the season has stretched to six games.

Having fallen to defeat to a previously winless Empoli side in midweek and been held to a draw by newly promoted Frosinone in their last home outing, the pressure is mounting on coach Paulo Sousa.

Salernitana face a daunting run of matches in the coming weeks too, including games against Juventus, Lazio and reigning champions Napoli.

The only crumb of comfort for the Granata is a run of one defeat at home in the last ten league games, a sequence that features a 1-1 draw with Inter.

The hosts will do well to take anything from Inter’s next visit though and the Nerazzurri, who have recorded a pair of 5-0 wins over Salernitana since they returned to Serie A in 2021/22, are expected to get back to winning ways.

Inter have struggled a little going forward of late with Lautaro Martinez heavily criticised for his showing against Sassuolo and a repeat of their previous wide-margin victories seems unlikely with preference going to a 2-0 correct score.
