Salernitana to Win

Reason for tip

Salernitana have won three of their last four home league games and they were leading with just minutes left in their visit to Roma in their opener. Udinese lost 3-0 to Juventus a week ago – their fifth straight loss in Serie A. The visitors were beaten here in May and the hosts should prove too strong again.

Salernitana 3-1

Reason for tip

Udinese have scored in each of their seven away matches played between Serie A and B against Salernitana and they should grab a goal here, but the hosts have scored three times in three of their last four at home and their impressive attacking options should see them win comfortably.

Salernitana vs Udinese Predictions

  • Salernitana drew 2-2 at Roma last weekend
  • The hosts have won three of their last four home league games
  • Udinese have lost five straight league games including a visit to this ground

Salernitana chase first win

Salernitana were minutes away from starting the season with a victory, leading 2-1 away to Roma last weekend. They conceded late on in that one but they escaped the capital with a hard-earned point, building off a strong finish to last term which saw them beat the drop.

Salernitana have worked this summer to ensure they retained the side that helped them to safety last term. Boulaye Dia and Antonio Candreva have both joined on permanent deals, which makes them a serious threat going forward.

The hosts relied on victories over bottom-half sides and they made the most of home advantage, so this looks like a great opportunity for them to claim a first win of the campaign.

Udinese’s poor stretch to continue

The visitors were beaten 3-0 by Juventus last Monday, their fifth successive Serie A defeat. Last term they lost 10 of their 19 away trips and this week they head to a Salernitana side who won six of their nine home games to bottom-half teams.

The visitors seem to be suffering some after-effects of last season’s poor finish and Salernitana made a bright start. The hosts have won three of their last four home league games including a success over Udinese, so it’s hard to justify having the visitors as slight favourites. Take the hosts to claim the points and build off a good run at home.
