Juventus to Win

Reason for tip

Sampdoria have lost nine of their last 13 league games – of their three victories during that run, two came against sides which suffered relegation in May. Juventus, meanwhile, have won each of the last seven head-to-head meetings between the sides.

Juventus 2-0

Reason for tip

Juventus picked up 35 points on their travels last season, more than all but four Serie A outfits, and only the top three conceded fewer than their 37 goals against in league action last term.

Sampdoria vs Juventus Predictions

  • Sampdoria have lost nine of their last 13 Serie A games, only beating Venezia, Genoa and Fiorentina during that run.
  • Juventus have won each of their last seven matches against Sampdoria.
  • Only four Serie A teams bettered the Bianconeri’s tally of 35 points on the road last season.

Scudetto bid looming for Juventus?

Juventus are bidding for a first title challenge since 2019-20 after acquiring the likes of Angel Di Maria, Gleison Bremer and Paul Pogba during a busy transfer window, and made a terrific start to the new campaign with a resounding 3-0 win over Sassuolo last time out. Sampdoria, on the other hand, were well beaten by Atalanta, and enter Monday’s fixture as big outsiders even with home advantage.

Juventus spent much of Monday’s win over the Neroverdi playing on the break, but a debut goal from Di Maria and a brace from Dusan Vlahovic fired them to victory. Allegri’s team will be looking forward to getting back on the road after claiming 35 points on their travels last season – more than all but four Serie A clubs, and the Bianconeri have won each of their last seven games against Sampdoria.

Marco Giampaolo’s Sampdoria ended last season with a run of two wins from their final eight league games, and appear likely to struggle once more after a meek home defeat to Atalanta. Samp lost 10 matches on their own turf last season, more than every Serie A team apart from Spezia and Venezia. Giampaolo’s team have also lost nine of their last 13 league matches, and have seen Mikkel Damsgaard and other first-team players depart during a frustrating transfer window.

Bianconeri can go two from two

Given Sampdoria’s dreadful form in recent months and Juventus’ decent record on the road last term, backing the Old Lady to keep their 100 per cent record going with a victory looks prudent.

Meanwhile, only Serie A’s top three conceded fewer goals than Juventus (37) last term, making a 2-0 away win appear a decent correct score prediction.
