Napoli to Win

Reason for tip

Sassuolo have lost five of their last six games and after a 3-2 home defeat by Empoli they should fall to a Napoli side who were robbed of a victory by a last-gasp equaliser on Sunday.

Napoli 2-1

Reason for tip

Sassuolo have scored in their last seven home Serie A games, while Napoli have seen both teams score in four of their last five starts. Back the visitors to concede again but to edge Sassuolo with a 2-1 victory.

Victor Osimhen To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

This hasn’t been a stellar season for Victor Osimhen but the forward has found a bit of form, scoring in his two games since returning from AFCON. He can continue that good run with a strike against this poor Sassuolo backline.

Sassuolo vs Napoli Predictions

  • Napoli have won nine of their 10 clashes with the bottom 10
  • Sassuolo have lost five of their last six games
  • Victor Osimhen has scored in both of Francesco Calzona’s first two games in charge

Napoli to grab vital win

Napoli are onto their third manager of the season in Francesco Calzona and he’s still searching for his first win since taking charge. The new Partenopei boss led his side to a 1-1 draw against Barcelona in his debut, before another draw against Cagliari at the weekend.

However, the Serie A champions were leading until late in that game and their improved displays suggest they can secure all three points at Sassuolo. The Neroveri are 17th and in danger of dropping into the second tier, having lost five of their last six games.

Sassuolo have suffered 15 defeats in 25 league games this term and their 3-2 home defeat to Empoli at the weekend was a hammer blow. With the hosts in a mess, the visit of Victor Osimhen could be a problem. Last season’s Serie A top scorer has struggled this term but after scoring in his first two games since returning from AFCON, he looks back to his best under Calzona.

Napoli have won nine of their 10 meetings with the bottom seven in Serie A this season, with those accounting for all but one of their league wins this term. Given that fine record against the league’s strugglers, an improved Napoli should be able to take maximum points against a Sassuolo side who are in terrible shape.
