Uruguay and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Uruguay look too strong for Saudi Arabia and should be able to get off to a winning start. However, The Green One carry enough attacking threat to get on the scoresheet and they can strike in defeat, having managed to find a way through Ecuador’s formidable defence in a 2-1 friendly defeat recently.

Uruguay 3-1

Reason for tip

Uruguay may conceded but they can still win fairly comfortably. Take a chance on a 3-1 La Celeste win as Saudi Arabia have conceded more than one goal in three of their last four games.

Saudi Arabia vs Uruguay Predictions

  • Uruguay finished fourth in South American qualifying with 28 points from 18 games
  • Saudi Arabia have four defeats in their last five games
  • Saudi Arabia have scored in each of their last three games

Uruguay can make winning start

Uruguay enjoyed a strong qualification campaign for World Cup 2026 and they will feel capable of making a deep run in North America.

La Celeste have fallen in the group stages in each of the last two World Cups but in this expanded edition of the competition they are well placed to reach the knockout phase, while getting out of the groups would be a huge achievement for Saudi Arabia – who have won just two games across their last five World Cup appearances.

Uruguay have underwhelmed in recent friendlies, aside from a 1-1 draw with England away from home, but they tend to raise their levels in competitive games and should be able to see off The Green One.

The South Americans are the heavy favourites so one angle here is backing Uruguay to win and both teams to score, as the Saudis do carry a threat in attack.

The Middle Eastern nation have one friendly left before the tournament. Ahead of that game with Senegal on Tuesday night, they have scored in each of their last three games and that includes a 2-1 defeat to Ecuador, who boast a very impressive backline, and Uruguay have conceded in three of their last five.

Ultimately, Uruguay can still win fairly comfortably and a 3-1 win for Marcelo Bielsa’s side has a chance as Saudi Arabia have conceded eight goals across their last four games.

Federico Valverde looks a contender for an anytime effort for Uruguay after a fairly productive season for Real Madrid, where he managed nine goals across all competitions.
