German test for Hammers

West Ham kicked off their Europa League campaign with a 3-1 win over Serbian outfit TSC Backa Topola but will face a bigger test when they head to Germany to take on Freiburg.

The Breisgau-Brasilianer reached the last 16 of this competition last year and also impressed in the DfB Pokal with a run through to the last four, and they also made a winning start to their Group A bid with a 3-2 win at Olympiacos.

Both teams capable of scoring

The Hammers have made a strong start to the campaign with six wins in nine games across all competitions and their only defeats have come against Manchester City and Livwerpool.

However, Freiburg are also in fine form as they have 10 points from six Bundesliga games and the best option for our main bet looks to be both teams to score.

The head-to-head games between these two sides may ultimately decide who tops this group and a point in Germany may be viewed as a positive from a West Ham perspective.

A 2-2 draw looks a reasonable correct score prediction, as West Ham have scored at least twice in seven of their nine games and Freiburg have done the same in three of their last four across all competitions.

Freiburg’s Vincenzo Grifo appeals as a potential scorer after impressing against Augsburg at the weekend. The Italian was on target in that win, and also grabbed a goal in the victory over Olympiacos in his side’s Europa League opener.
