Schalke and Gladbach can go tit-for-tat

After losing in their season opener against Cologne last time out with the added salt in the wound of a red card, Schalke return home looking to get their first points on the board.

However, they look up against it as they welcome a seemingly irresistable Borussia Monchengladbach side under the recent stewardship of Daniel Farke. With such a powerful frontline and a seemingly porous defence, a high scoring game is a real possibility here.

Farke got his first big break in the Bundesliga after leaving Russia due to the ongoing conflict, and that looks to be their loss as he has got Gladbach firing on all cylinders in his short time at the helm.

Although many were in the ill-fated 2020/21 campaign, it is difficult to recommend backing a Schalke side that have failed to win 32 of their last 35 games at this level. The jump up from the second-tier is clearly notable after round one, and it looks like this could be yet another tough campaign for the once great club.
