Scotland vs Denmark Predictions
Scotland had every chance of qualifying for Euro 2016, but late in the campaign they collapsed and saw a potential finals appearance disappear. They failed to win four of their final five qualification games, losing against Georgia and Germany and getting draws against Poland and Republic of Ireland.
Had they beaten Republic of Ireland they would have secured a playoff position, and had they beaten Georgia they could well have been in for automatic qualification.
It wasn’t to be though, and their inexperienced squad in this round of friendlies indicates that Gordon Strachan is looking towards the future of the country. They started well as well, beating Czech Republic 1-0 away from home thanks to an Ikechi Anya goal in the first half.
Denmark also missed out on the European Championships in France this summer, losing in the playoffs to arch rivals Sweden after finishing 3rd in Group I behind Portugal and Albania.
They, like Scotland, named an inexperienced squad for this round of friendlies and they, like Scotland, started off on the right foot. The impressive Iceland lost 2-1 in Denmark thanks to a quickfire brace from Nicolai Jorgensen.
Scotland have been pretty impressive at home recently. They have only lost to Germany and England in their last ten outings there and have won six times during this period. Denmark have lost four and drawn one of their last five away matches and have just one win to their name on the road in their last eight games.
This, in addition to Scotland’s good performance against Czech Republic, makes odds of 2.025 for a Scotland 0.0 Asian Handicap Win look very good value for money. I’m going for that along with a 1-0 correct score prediction at 13/2.
