Scunthorpe vs Salford City Predictions
- Under 2.5 goals has landed in each of the past three meetings.
- Scunthorpe have scored just five goals in seven home league games.
- Salford have scored six times in six away league fixtures.
Huge game at Glanford
Bottom of the league Scunthorpe will welcome out-of-form Salford to Lincolnshire in a massive game at this stage of the season. Scunthorpe are rock bottom, five points and five places behind their guests but with Salford losing back-to-back games, Iron manager Neil Cox will see this as a chance to put things right.
Scunthorpe were handed their fifth league defeat in seven games by Colchester in their last League Two fixture and were beaten by Doncaster in both the FA Cup and EFL Trophy over the past week.
Scunthorpe have the worst defence in the division and are the joint-lowest scoring attack but with cup distractions now aside perhaps they can get things right.
Salford stalling
The visitors narrowly missed out on the play-offs last season and many tipped to them to finish at a similar height this term but under the tutelage of Gary Bowyer they have slipped to 19th in the table. A pair of cup wins over the past week will have been a confidence boost but the Ammies need to get the ball rolling in League Two after back-to-back defeats to two of the top four.
Their defensive record is better than a number of teams above them but Salford’s low-scoring rate is why they are in a lowly position. Salford have scored just 16 goals in 15 league games while on the road they have netted just six in six which is why I’m tipping under 2.5 goals here.
Scunthorpe are leaky in defence though and Salford shut take advantage. Each of their four wins in the league have been accompanied by a clean sheet so 2-0 looks like the correct score selection here.
