Sevilla vs Rayo Vallecano Predictions
The Andalucian side look very short here at 1/2 for numerous reasons. Firstly they have been pretty awful in the league so far and are bottom of the table after 5 games. They’ve lost both home games in the league this season, which is already more than they suffered in all of last season and were beaten 2-0 away to previously winless and newly promoted Las Palmas in midweek.
These are certainly worrying times for Unai Emery and his team who would have had ambitions of finishing in the top four having narrowly missed out last year despite still qualifying for the Champions League via a 2nd straight Europa League triumph.
Another reason they look short for the win here is that Rayo Vallecano have won their last 2 matches after a slow start to the campaign and they are a bit better than quite a few of the smaller sides in the league as their mid-table finish last season demonstrated.
Rayo also tend to travel well and will certainly fancy dishing out more punishment on Sevilla. They won a very impressive 7 away games in La Liga last season and have already done what Sevilla couldn’t do this year and win on Gran Canaria against Las Palmas.
Therefore there is plenty of reason to think the Madrid club have a chance here and they are good value at 13/8 to get a result from the game.
One thing also worth thinking about is that Rayo Vallecano very rarely draw matches and they are a side that for better or worse always looks for 3 points. Clearly a draw here would be a good result and they won’t play suicidal football if they are level going into the closing moments but they only drew 4 times in all of last season and went 17 away games without one.
However there is no reason right now why they can’t cause an upset against what will be a really nervy Sevilla side. Consider shooting for big potential returns by backing Rayo to win 2-1 at 18/1.
