      Sevilla vs Valencia Predictions

Neither side will be entirely happy with the way their seasons are shaping up after really impressive campaigns last time around. Both clubs finished in the top 5 last term, with Valencia pipping Sevilla to 4th spot but another Europa League triumph for the Andalucians meant that both these clubs made the Champions League.

However it hasn’t gone quite as well as either manager would have liked. Sevilla suffered their 4th straight defeat in the Champions League on Wednesday to exit the competition and sink to bottom of their group below Borussia Monchengladbach who inflicted on them a 4-2 defeat. Valencia were also beaten, 2-0 away at Zenit and although they are still in the competition, their fate is no longer in their own hands going into the final match-day.

At home both clubs have suffered from inconsistency and rather than 5th against 4th, it is 11th against 7th as things stand in La Liga although both sides will expect to move upwards.

One thing we should see here are goals. There have been 3 or more goals in 6 of Sevilla’s last 7 matches and both teams have scored in 7 of their last 9. With home advantage Sevilla will certainly attack this game as they did when Barcelona and Real Madrid visited in recent weeks. Sevilla won both matches beating Real 3-2 and Barca 2-1 and those results suggest they are still a force to be reckoned with on their day despite poor results overall, mostly on the road.

Valencia have also tended to be involved in high-scoring games. 6 of their last 9 matches have featured 3 or more goals and they put in a stunning display to win 5-1 at Celta Vigo in their last away game.

Both teams have some dangerous attacking players but slightly questionable defences right now so consider backing there to be over 2.5 goals in this one with both teams getting on the scoresheet at odds of 20/21.

It might just be a question of who shows up on the day but you have to favour the hosts as the more likely winners. They’ve won their last 4 home games in La Liga which includes the visits of Barca and Real Madrid so a game against Valencia, who have lost 4 of their last 5 away games, won’t phase them one bit.

Therefore odds of 7/1 for a 2-1 home win might just be worth a punt here.
