Barca’s hard-fought 1-0 win over Real Sociedad was their eighth in 12 games in Spain’s top flight this season and they are keeping pace with Girona and Real Madrid at the summit.

And in the Champions League they have looked even sharper, racking up three wins from three matches against Antwerp, Porto and Shakhtar Donetsk.

Barca were 2-1 winners over Shakhtar at the end of last month and can again grind out a win when the teams reconvene at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg.

Expect strong defensive performance from visitors

Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski may be fit and able to start again for Barcelona but their recent results have been down to resolute defensive performances and they have kept four clean sheets in their last seven games.
