Ferencvarosi TC 1-0

Reason for tip

Shamrock Rovers vs Ferencvarosi TC Predictions

  • Ferencvaros hammered Shamrock Rovers 4-0 in the first leg of their Europa League qualifying tie last week.
  • The Hungarian side have won five of their last eight competitive matches.
  • Shamrock Rovers, meanwhile, have conceded 10 goals in their last five European contests.

Hoops’ Europa hopes in tatters

Shamrock Rovers may be strong favourites to retain their Irish top-flight title after opening up a seven-point lead over Dundalk on the domestic front, but Stephen Bradley’s men have little chance of making the Europa League’s group stages following a chastening 4-0 loss at Ferencvaros, who are strong favourites to build on that victory in Thursday’s play-off second leg.

Indeed, Shamrock Rovers have followed up a run of five consecutive victories by winning on just five of their last 10 outings in all competitions, and managed just three attempts as they slumped to a demoralising defeat in Hungary last week. The Hoops have now conceded 10 goals in their last five continental outings, also being hammered 3-0 at Ludogorets last month, and appear hard pushed to compete on Thursday.

The visitors, meanwhile, have won four of their last six matches, with only Qarabag triumphing over Ferencvaros during their run. Stanislav Cherchesov’s men have now won each of their last two matches by 4-0 scorelines, and only one Hungarian top-flight side bettered their tally of 60 league goals last campaign.

Ferencvaros to build on first-leg win

Ferencvaros’ strong attacking form makes them overwhelming favourites to build on their first-leg advantage when they visit Ireland on Thursday, and we’re tipping the Hungarian champions to claim another victory.

Meanwhile, a 1-0 away victory appears a decent correct score prediction after Shamrock Rovers failed to score in two of their last three outings.
