Shamrock Rovers vs St Patricks Predictions

Shamrock can make home advantage count 

There is a top of the table clash in Ireland’s Premier Division on Friday as defending champions and league leaders Shamrock Rovers welcome St Patrick’s Athletic to Tallaght Stadium. 

St Pats sit level on points with their hosts in second spot, although they have played a game more, with only goal difference separating the two sides.

Unsurprisingly, both teams head into this match-up in great form.  Shamrock have three wins in their last four games across all competitions and St Pats have done the same, winning their last three in a row.

Home advantage could make the difference in this clash and Shamrock, who won 2-1 in the reverse fixture in May, should be able to edge this tie.  The Hoops have a fairly impressive record at their South Dublin base with five wins, four draws and just one defeat and they have won their last three games in a row at the Tallaght Stadium – including a 2-1 victory over Slovan Bratislava in a Champions League qualifier.

We’re expecting a close game between these two title rivals but home advantage should see Shamrock claim the spoils.  The Rovers have only managed one clean sheet in their last seven home games and St Pats have scored in all 10 of their away fixtures so we think a 2-1 home win has some appeal in the correct score market.
