Tip Reasoning

  • Only MK Dons have scored more than Bolton’s 20 goals so far this season
  • Both teams have scored in Sheffield Wednesday’s last five games and Bolton’s last three
  • Both sides have drawn three games so far this season

Big sides may cancel each other out

Sheffield Wednesday and Bolton are two of the biggest clubs in League One, both sides have average attendances in top four of the division and will be hoping for at least playoff places come the end of the season.

Bolton have acclimatised well to life back in the third tier, sitting in seventh after 11 games. The Wanderers have also scored 20 goals so far, a number only beaten by MK Dons. On loan Oladapo Afolayan  and Wales international Josh Sheehan have been particularly impressive.

Ian Evatt’s side have also picked up 10 points from six games on the road and pose a big challenge to Sheffield Wednesday here. The Owls have been in indifferent form since their drop into League One.

Goals have been a particular issue for Darren Moore’s side, only teams in the relegation zone have scored less than their 10 so far. However, the signings of Saido Berahino and Lee Gregory may improve that and will do better with games under their belt.

Both sides have drawn three of their games so far and another stalemate is predicted to be on the cards here.

Both teams to find the net

Despite their good attacking stats so far, Bolton have struggled at the back, conceding 15 in 11 games. Sheffield Wednesday have also seen both teams score in their last four games.

As a result of Bolton’s offensive acumen, this may be a high scoring encounter and 2-2 is the correct score prediction between these sleeping giants.
