Sheffield Wednesday to Win

Reason for tip

Sheffield Wednesday have two wins in as many games this season and home advantage could be the difference when they face probable promotion rivals Bradford. The Bantams are yet to play away this season, but lost 10 of their 23 road games last term. There is a feel-good factor around Hillsborough after their summer takeover and they’ve beaten a Championship team in the EFL Cup at home in August, they can continue their perfect start by beating Bradford.

Sheffield Wednesday 2-1

Reason for tip

The Owls may concede in victory as Bradford’s attack has looked sharp with four goals in two games. These sides look fairly evenly matched but Wednesday can grind out a win with home advantage and a 2-1 success for the hosts has a chance.

Jamal Lowe To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Jamal Lowe has two goals in as many games and will be on spot kick duties on Thursday. The Wednesday forward looks the standout candidate for an anytime goal against Bradford.

Sheffield Wednesday vs Bradford Predictions

  • Both sides won their opening games
  • Bradford lost 10 of their 23 League One away games last season
  • Wednesday beat Bolton at Hillsborough in the EFL Cup

Owls face Bantams in Thursday night League One clash

Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford meet in a league fixture for the first time in over 21 years on Thursday night in a battle between two potential League One promotion candidates.

The Owls endured a nightmare campaign in the Championship last season but a summer takeover has seen the club rejuvenated and they have started the new season strongly, beating Championship outfit Bolton in the EFL Cup before opening their League One account with a 2-1 success at Leyton Orient.

Bradford have also made a perfect start with a cup success over Rochdale and a home league win over Peterborough. The Bantams reached the play-offs last season and will have their sights set on another promotion bid but they may fall short in South Yorkshire.

Bradford were far stronger at home than they were on their travels last term as 10 of their 13 defeats came in away games. Graham Alexander’s men lost eight of their final 12 trips, including a play-off loss at Bolton, and are yet to play away from home this season.

The early signs suggest Wednesday could be a force at Hillsborough after they edged out Bolton in the cup, albeit they were aided by Wanderers being reduced to 10 men early in the second half.

Home advantage could be crucial here and Wednesday look good value to claim a victory.

Bradford should be able to strike in defeat as their attack looks sharp in the early stages of the season having scored four goals in their two games so far, and they only failed to score in two of their final 10 games last season. Both of the Owls’ wins this season have come via one-goal margins so a 2-1 home win is the correct score pick.

Wednesday forward Jamal Lowe has two goals in as many games and will be on spot kick duties on Thursday. The Jamaica international looks the standout candidate for an anytime goal against Bradford.
