Sheffield Wednesday vs Brentford Predictions
The Owls picked up a massive 3 points last weekend when Gary Hooper scored two late goals to seal a 2-1 win at fellow play-off chasers Birmingham. It leaves them in the top six but with 16 matches still to play it is still all to play for and there are numerous sides in the hunt.
Brentford were one of them last year but a repeat voyage into the play-offs is looking unlikely now after an up-and-down kind of season that has already seen several managers come and go and some of their better players leave.
The West Londoners were beaten 3-0 at Brighton last time out and this won’t be any easier that is for sure. They’ve taken just 4 points from 6 Championship matches in 2016 and have lost 5 of their 7 games this calendar year overall.
Wednesday meanwhile are unbeaten in 6 in the league and have an excellent record at Hillsborough this season. They’ve won 5 of their last 6 on home soil with in-form Burnley the only side to get a point and they’ve only suffered 1 defeat in 19 matches at the ground this season, winning an impressive 13 of them.
Therefore it is hard to look past the Owls to win this one and at 21/20 they are very reasonably priced to deliver 3 points here.
Brentford like to play football but they are easily exposed at the back at times particularly after their recent departures. Wednesday have scored 3 or more goals in 8 of those home games so consider backing a 3-1 home win here at a tempting 14/1.
