      Sheffield Wednesday vs Fulham Predictions

The West London side have been playing some of their best football since they were relegated from the Premier League two seasons ago and come into this game having won 3 games in a row in all competitions for the first time in almost a year.

They won in this part of the world in their last Championship away game, cruising to a 3-1 win at Rotherham and backed that up with a 2-1 home win over Blackburn last time out. Ross McCormack has been their main threat and the Scot has netted 4 goals in the 3 victories and Wednesday will need to be at their best defensively if they are to keep him quiet on Saturday.

In Moussa Dembélé, he has very capable support and the French teenager has also netted twice in 3 games and looks like a real prospect. Perhaps the biggest improvement with Fulham this season though is that they look much more assured at the back having shipped a ridiculous 83 goals last season in their first campaign back in the 2nd tier in over a decade.

You have to fancy them to at least get a result against a Sheffield Wednesday side that haven’t won since the opening day. You can back the visitors to get a point or better at 4/5 and that looks like fantastic value given Wednesday have only won 5 of their last 30 Championship home games.

They haven’t been too impressive in recent weeks after quite a bright start to the season. Back-to-back 3-1 defeats against Middlesbrough and Burnley were followed up by a 0-0 draw at Bolton in midweek. It’s not great form to take into a game against a side playing with confidence and boasting an attacking threat like Fulham are at the moment.

The Cottagers have also had the advantage of not playing in midweek so should be the fresher of the two sides. It won’t be easy but of the two they seem the more likely winners despite the odds suggesting otherwise. Both teams have scored in all of the last 5 Championship games involving Fulham but they have tended to come out on top of late and at 12/1 they are worth a punt to win this one 2-1.
