      Sheffield Wednesday vs Preston Predictions

Wednesday fans are cautiously optimistic about what has the potential to be their best season in the 2nd tier perhaps even since they were relegated from the Premier League in 2000. Under the management of Carlos Carvalhal they have won 3 in a row in all competitions including away wins at Newcastle and Brentford.

At 11/10 they look good value to extend that run to 4 straight wins here and that has as much to do with how poor Preston have been as it is to do with their own form.

Preston are in the bottom 3 along with the other newly promoted clubs and like MK Dons and Bristol City have found the jump from League 1 to the Championship to be bigger than many might have expected. They have won just once all season and that was against MK Dons and they have the joint worst goalscoring record in the division with only 6 goals scored from 9 matches

They’ve taken just one point and scored just one goal in their last 3 away matches which have included trips to Rotherham and Brentford which aren’t the toughest of places to go at the moment.

Sheffield Wednesday have won 4 of their 6 home games so far this season, with only high-flying Middlesbrough coming to Hillsborough and winning. Preston clearly don’t possess that sort of potency in attack and a Wednesday side who will be high on confidence should have enough to deliver another win.

They don’t have a great defence though and usually do concede in games and both teams have scored in all of Preston’s last 5 matches so we can see the visitors scoring here. However Sheffield Wednesday look good value to win it 2-1 at odds of 8/1.
