West Ham United to Win

Reason for tip

Silkeborg are on a run of just two wins from their last eight games, five of which have ended in defeat, while they are also without a victory in their last four home European ties. West Ham on the other hand are now on a run of just one defeat in five and started their Europa Conference League campaign with a 3-1 win over FCSB last week

West Ham United 2-0

Reason for tip

Silkeborg are conceding an average of one goal per game over their last eight fixtures, so they don’t tend to get beaten too heavily, but this will be a tougher test for the Danes against a West Ham side who have netted 12 times in seven outings, keeping two clean sheets in the process

Silkeborg IF vs West Ham United Predictions

  • Silkeborg are on a run of five defeats in their last eight matches
  • West Ham have suffered just two losses in their last eight European away games
  • West Ham are on a run of three wins from five

Can Silkeborg get off the mark?

Silkeborg opened their Europa Conference League group stage campaign with a 1-0 defeat to Anderlecht last week, a loss that was their third in a row after further reversals to Copenhagen and OB.

They ended that run at the weekend by beating AGF 1-0, but Kent Nielsen’s side have still won only two of their last eight.

The Danes also have a shocking recent record in European football, going nine matches without a victory, with their last win coming in the UEFA Cup against NS Mura way back in 1998.

West Ham under pressure to perform

West Ham are rightly favourites for this clash after a run of three wins in five, one of which was their 3-1 defeat of FCSB in their opening group game last week.

The Hammers will be fresh as their fixture against Newcastle at the weekend was postponed, and they now go in search of a fifth win in nine outings.

David Moyes’ side also have a good recent history in European competition, reaching the semi-finals of the Europa League last year before losing to eventual winners Frankfurt.

Indeed, they have only lost four of their last 15 in continental football and I predict the Hammers will come out on top again here, with a 2-0 victory my correct score prediction.
