Sion vs Rubin Kazan Betting Tips

This is Sion’s first Europa League group stage appearance, with their winning of the Swiss Cup seeing them directly entered into the group stages and avoiding the pesky qualification rounds that have kept them out of the competition so far.

The last time they were entered into European competition was all the way back in 2011, when Scottish side Celtic eliminated them in the playoff round.

They were regulars in these qualification rounds at that point, but have since seen their domestic performance drop.

As such, they haven’t been in the running for qualification. Last season was no exception in terms of league position, where they ended 7^th but qualified after beating Basel in the Swiss Cup final.

They have started this season more brightly though, and currently sit in 3^rd position in the Swiss Super League after eight games played.

They are already some way behind leaders Basel though, with the champions holding a ten point advantage over 3^rd place already.

Rubin Kazan haven’t managed the same good start in their domestic league though. They have also played eight league games, but find themselves well down the pecking order in 13^th position after picking up only six points.

But they are getting better. They lost all of their first four league matches, which instantly put them at a huge points disadvantage. Since then, they have two of their four games in the league and one of their two in the Europa League, which is a marked improvement.

Rubin Kazan arguably have a better quality of player available to them when compared with Sion, but away from home they may find it difficult against a team that are organised at the back and looking to put in a good showing in their first Europa League group stage appearance.

I think it will be a tight match, and Sion will be trying to snatch a goal while staying tight at the back, so odds of 8/13 for Under 2.5 Goals look pretty nice to me.
