Slavia Mozyr vs BATE Borisov Predictions
- Slavia Mozyr have won their last two matches, beating both BATE and reigning Premier League champions Dinamo Brest.
- BATE have lost their last two away games, conceding five goals and scoring two.
- BATE have conceded an average of 1.6 goals per competitive game this season, but are yet to fail to score.
Slavia’s solid start puts them on the right path
Slavia Mozyr continued their impressive start to the Belarusian domestic campaign on Saturday with a well-deserved 2-1 win away to reigning Belarus Premier League champions Dinamo Brest.
This came just a week after they secured another 2-1 victory against Wednesday’s opponents BATE, who up until last season had made the top spot their own every year since 2005.
Of course, it’s still very early in the season, but if Slavia can continue in this vein of form they will be aiming a lot higher than mid-table as they look to build a solid foundation after years of bouncing around between divisions.
BATE’s struggle continues despite weekend win
BATE still seem to be suffering from the psychological damage of missing out on their first Premier League title for 14 years last season. They did manage to get their first points on the board on Saturday, but it wasn’t exactly a dominating performance from the Belarusian heavyweights.
They took a 7th minute lead before settling for seeing out a narrow victory against Rukh Brest, with this low-key three pointer following on from back-to-back defeats away to Energetik-BGU and Slavia.
As far as the Belarus Cup goes, both teams secured comfortable passage through to this round, with Slavia hammering the recently relegated Dnyapro 6-0 on aggregate and BATE beating Dinamo Minsk 5-3 over the two legs.
Slavia eye positive first leg result
With this tie also set to be played over two legs, Slavia will be focused on putting themselves in a good position ahead of their trip to BATE. Their recent victory over their opponents puts them in good stead here, as does their fantastic win over champions Dinamo Brest on Saturday. They are unbeaten in five competitive home games and, with BATE losing their last two away games we think a Slavia win or draw double chance is excellent value.
We actually think Slavia have a good chance of winning this match. They have won each of their last two games by two goals to one, while BATE have conceded 1.6 goals per game in all competitions this season. That being said, BATE have scored in all five of these matches, so another 2-1 win for Slavia looks a good choice.
