Slovan Bratislava vs Young Boys Predictions

  • Slovan Bratislava’s unbeaten run ended at eight games following their loss last week
  • Young Boys have just one loss in their last nine games in all competitions

Young Boys to leave Slovakia disappointed

Slovan’s route to this second round came after a tricky two legged tie with Shamrock Rovers, which they eventually won 3-2. The Slovakian side won their domestic league with relative ease and, whilst the new season hasn’t kicked off yet, their pre-season program has brought impressive wins over Admira and Kapfenberg of Austria and the teams have lost just one of their last nine games in all competitions.

Young Boys enter the competition at this point following their Swiss Super League win last season. The have performed well in their pre-season campaign with a win over Feyenoord a particular highlight. The Swiss side are favourites coming into this match and, with the second leg being at home, they could put this tie to bed before they welcome Bratislava to their home ground.

We think this game could lack goals as both sides try to avoid mistakes early in the game. Young Boys look to be the stronger outfit but Slovan should cause them some issues, especially defensively where the Slovakians look strong. We’re backing this match to see under 2.5 goals with everything to play for in the second leg.

Young Boys will hope for the victory but we think they will have to work hard to take control of the game and the longer they go without a goal, the more frustrated they could become. We’re backing Bratislava to come away from this game with a real chance in the second leg with this contest finishing 1-1.
