Southampton vs Arsenal Betting Tips

Southampton just seem unable to break out of their poor form. They could be excused from it early on in the season due to a number of injury problems and getting to grips with losing some key players, but there doesn’t seem to be any particular cause for this spell.

They broke out of their early season rut and went on an eight match unbeaten streak where they won six times.

However, Southampton come into this game having lost five of their last six and won none, including a disappointing display at home to Spurs last weekend.

This has left them fighting meekly against a slide down the Premier League table, and they are now just six points off the relegation zone in 12^th place.

Arsenal find themselves in a much more favourable position. They have kept the pace with surprise leaders Leicester and only trail them by two points at Christmas, and their Monday night win saw them open up a four point gap between them and Manchester City.

Their 2-1 win over Manchester City was very impressive, and they looked relatively comfortable before City’s final push for an equaliser.

This was Arsenal’s 5^th win in their last six games in all competitions, including a miraculous win at Olympiakos to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Arsenal’s extensive injury list, fortunately for them, hasn’t gotten any longer. They are still without Mikel Arteta, Tomas Rosicky, Danny Welbeck, Alexis Sanchez, Jack Wilshere, Francis Coquelin, and Santi Cazorla.

Southampton are missing Fraser Forster, Maarten Stekelenburg, Jay Rodriguez, and Florin Gardos.

Arsenal have been struggling against injuries for a long while now and it hasn’t seemed to affect their form, so I think they’ll pick up another win on Saturday against an out of form Southampton. Odds of 21/20 for an away victory look really good value too, and I’m also going for a 2-0 correct score prediction at 10/1.
