Southampton vs Crystal Palace Predictions
Southampton put in a thoroughly disappointing performance on Saturday as they played out a bore draw at home to Bournemouth, and at the moment it seems that their season is set to peter out to a dull conclusion.
They have won just two of their last eight games in all competitions, drawing once and losing the other five. This leaves them 10th in the Premier League, two points adrift of Stoke in 9th but ten off 8th placed West Brom.
Both of their recent victories have come away from home as well, and at St. Mary’s they have won just one of their last five Premier League games. This includes defeats to Spurs, West Brom, and West Ham.
Crystal Palace did the unthinkable on Saturday and stopped a seemingly unstoppable Chelsea. The league leaders had won 13 games on the bounce at Stamford Bridge prior to that game, but the resurgent Palace bounced back from an early setback and shockingly won the game 2-1. This could have an enormous impact at both ends of the table.
This makes it four wins in a row for Crystal Palace, and them beating Chelsea will boost their confidence enormously as they look to move further away from the relegation zone. They are now 16th in the table, four points clear of the drop zone but in the best form of any one of their relegation rivals.
Crystal Palace may have struggled on the road this season, but they have now won three of their last four and they’re facing a Southampton side who are really struggling at St Mary’s at the moment. Considering the visitors form and the huge psychological boost that win over Chelsea will have given them, odds of 23/20 for a Crystal Palace Win or Draw Double Chance look very good value, so I’m backing that along with a 2-1 win for them at huge odds of 18/1 for my correct score predictions.
