Southampton vs Leicester Predictions

Southampton’s Premier League troubles continued last weekend as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat away to the surprisingly hard to beat Burnley. This was a bit of a shame after their League Cup success in midweek, but it was just more of the same in terms of the Premier League. They have now lost four league games on the bounce, conceding ten goals and scoring just twice in the process.

They have now only won three of their last 13 matches in the Premier League, with seven defeats and three draws making up the rest of their results in this period. This has pushed The Saints down to a disappointing 13th in the Premier League table, and with just eight points between them and the drop zone they will want to turn their fortunes around soon.

Southampton’s injury crisis has played a part, and whilst a few players are returning, the likes of Charlie Austin and Sofiane Boufal remain sidelined. They are big misses for Southampton’s faltering attack, leaving just Jay Rodriguez, Shane Long, and Nathan Redmond who can play up front.

Leicester’s Premier League title defence continued to disappoint last weekend as well as they comprehensively lost to a Diego Costa-less Chelsea at the King Power Stadium. This ended a three match unbeaten streak in all competitions, but in the Premier League they have won just two of their last 12 games, losing six of them.

This overall poor form has left them struggling down in 15th position in the table. They do have a five point cushion on the relegation zone, but they are by no means safe from the looming relegation battle.

Away from home they are still without a Premier League win this season. They have lost seven and drawn three of their ten away days, leaving them with the second worst away record in the entire Premier League.

They have improved on the road recently though, with draws against Stoke and Middlesbrough seeing them avoid defeat in back to back games for the first time this season away from home. Considering Southampton have only won four of their ten home games in the Premier League this season and have had two difficult midweek fixtures recently I think odds of 10/11 for a Leicester Win or Draw Double Chance are good value for money. I’m going for that along with a 1-1 correct score predictions at 6/1.
