Southampton vs Watford Betting Tips

Southampton’s Boxing Day thrashing of Arsenal seems to have just been a blip of good form for them. They beat an in form side 4-0 in the most surprising result of the day, but it hasn’t got better for them since then.

That was Southampton’s only win in their last ten attempts, with eight of those games ending in defeat for the struggling side.

This has seen Ronald Koeman’s side start a steady slide down the Premier League table, and they currently occupy 13^th position and are just seven points above the drop zone.

If Southampton are to win on Wednesday, they will have to do it without the suspended Victor Wanyama and the injured Cedric Soares, Fraser Forster, and Florin Gardos. Watford are only without Nathan Ake and Rene Gilmartin.

Watford managed a 1-0 win over Newcastle to progress in the FA Cup at the weekend, with that being their first win in four games.

But their results belie their performance in recent weeks. They have put in good performances in losses against Man City and Spurs and managed a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge. This came after an excellent run of four Premier League victories in a row as well.

So the visitors are actually in very good form coming into this match, and they will feel fairly confident of coming away with at least one point from a Southampton side who look shocking at the moment.
