St Johnstone vs LASK Linz Predictions
- LASK are winless in their last three games
- St Johnstone have lost just two of their seven games this season
Home advantage key to St Johnstone’s hopes
St Johnstone take on LASK Linz in the second leg of their Europa Conference League qualifier on Thursday with the tie finely poised after a 1-1 draw in the first leg in Austria.
The Saints pushed Turkish giants Galatasaray all the way in Europa League qualifying before dropping down to this competition, and they may be able to secure a place in the tournament proper with a win in 90 minutes on Thursday but I’m going to play it safe here and back them in the double chance market.
St Johnstone lost at home to Dundee United over the weekend but may well have had one eye on this fixture, and after drawing the first leg away are now well placed to go on and secure a group stage berth as reaching the group stages of a European competition has clearly been the priority in these early stages of the season. LASK are winless in their last three games, and weren’t particularly strong on their travels last term with just seven wins in 16 attempts in Austria’s top flight.
As the Scottish outfit are yet to win at home this season a home win or draw in the double chance market stands out here, with a 1-0 home win my selection in the correct score market as two of St Johnstone’s three most recent competitive wins have been by that scoreline.
